Yesterday, we got an additional foot of snow on top of the 4-5 inches we had the day before. And that was in addition to the already 1 1/2 - 2 feet we already had laying on the ground!! The snow seems to like to come down in the early morning hours, thus not giving the plow trucks time to clear the road for busses and cars. Luckily, I checked the night before if they were going to close school and then everyone slept soundly in their bed until Parker awoke at his normal 7:00-ish. It felt good to get a few extra minutes of sleep!
So...since the day before was "baking day" and I had had enough of that, I decided that a snow day would be a great day to have my kids help me make a couple Valentine decorations. I have had these ideas swirling in my noggin all whilst cleaning and purging my house. (which, I am happy to report is pretty much DONE! oh if feels so fabulous to feel more organized and dejunked! Goodwill got a nice big donation on Monday!)
Anyway - I didn't even remember to take pictures while we were making them. They seemed to take a lot longer to finish and kids were getting bored. So, I had to keep redirecting and helping them have fun and try to keep them interested, all while Parker threw our paper pieces on the floor about 10 times for his own entertainment (and to make us laugh...teasing again!) The kids are very proud of their hard work and so am I! It was fun to have 3 little crafty helpers!!
These aren't the best pictures, but here is what we created... (these are the windows right by the kitchen table) That big ole' heart took pretty much forever to finish! Remember doing those tissue paper crafts in elementarty school?...
